Yeah, it’s been a while since I haven’t posted in this blog and I have really wanted to write about the upcoming Eheads reunion concert continuation, but perhaps I have kept myself busy these past few days such that I haven’t got the chance to write again ;P.
Anyways, I won’t be elaborating much details about the concert since I know most people already know that it would be on March 7 at MOA grounds. Let me just say that I’m pretty excited with this one since I have a gut feeling that they we really complete the concert till the end and there will be no such concert from them in the months that will come (since it spoils the whole reunion concert idea in the first place). Another thing is that I’m hoping this time around there is more rapport between the members since they have been more comfortable with each other already, no need for group hugs though. hehe. I think it will also be a lot more fun since my sisters, brother-in-law and his sister, my officemates and friend Eunice will also be going. For those who haven’t read some articles regarding their upcoming reunion gig, here are the links:

Ang iniisip ko na lang ngayon ay kung anong ticket ang bibilhin. Baka silver na lang, mahirap buhay ngayon e. hehe

The title of this post is a pun on the names of my two closest college friends – Jac and Joan.

I was able to meet them last Friday at Glorietta. Jac was sporting a new curly Korean/Japanese look while Jo looked younger on her straight black hair. (Which made me think if I need a hairdo change of sorts hehe). Jac is working in Japan for 9 months now and it was just last week that I and Joan got to see her again. Joan is also working in Makati like me. Since Jac hasn’t been in Greenbelt 5, we headed there to find some place to eat and chat. Jeki wanted Filipino food for dinner, so we went to Fely J’s. The food, ambiance and price are ok, except for the time we waited for the food. It may be because it was Friday and there are a lot of clients to serve. Or perhaps we were already hungry when we went there. On the other hand, their staff was kind enough to give us tips on our order and even to take pictures for us. We ordered pork sinigang and crispy hito.
There were four of us in our thesis group back in college. The other one is Mark who is currently studying and working in Canada. Mark was craving for bibingka and puto bungbong, so we ordered cassava bibingka with buko for dessert. Looks yummy:
We were tempted to eat it, besides; Mark cannot do anything but be envious of our feast hehe. This was what was left of it:
The bibingka is delicious although we were expecting a larger serving of it.
After dinner we went for a stroll at Greenbelt park. It was a nice night to catch up with stories and whereabouts of the three of us. Hopefully we will be complete next time Mark comes to the Philippines for vacation. Sana sa Mang Jimmy’s naman sa susunod, just like good old college days.

Who wouldn’t want holidays? It’s good that we already know this early the holidays for this year so that we can plan accordingly. I was so excited about these holidays such that I encircled all of them in my calendar. Here are the holidays for this year (from inquirer.net)
Regular holidays
Araw ng Kagitingan (April 6, Monday)
Maundy Thursday (April 9)
Good Friday (April 10)
Labor Day (May 1, Friday)
Independence Day (June 12, Friday)
National Heroes Day (Aug. 31, Monday)
Bonifacio Day (Nov. 30, Monday)
Christmas Day (Dec. 25, Friday)
Rizal Day (Dec. 30, Wednesday).
Eid’l Fitr (end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan)
Special Non-working holidays
Ninoy Aquino Day (Aug. 21, Friday)
All Saints Day (Nov. 1, Sunday)
Nov. 2 (Monday)
Dec. 24 (Thursday)
Dec. 31 (Thursday)
I am quite pro with the holiday economics thing that they have been promoting for these past few years. Employers would surely want to minimize worker’s holidays or salaries for working on holidays. However, I agree that other sectors also benefit from the long weekends since it encourages spending and travel. And don’t we employees feel invigorated to work after a long weekend? ;P Although I am not sure yet if I can get leaves in between these long weekends, it is still good to know that there are already 15 guaranteed paid holidays for the year (if I continue to be employed, that is).

Yeah, I know this post is already late, but I’ll post it anyway hehe. Better late than never di ba?
Anyways, 2008 was a memorable year for me. For one, I turned 25, so almost good bye to my youth and hello young adult. Contrary to what I thought when I was younger, being 25 doesn’t make much difference. Well, for my case that is. I’m still my old self with another year to my age (sans the impacted wisdom tooth haha). But seriously, since last year I make it a point to make the most out of my youth because there are many things that we can no longer do when we are older.
March 2008 I changed employment. I missed my friends at the former company but I was able to prove for myself that friendship can still remain intact with constant communication with friends. With this big move I was able to have new friends in my current company which I overlooked initially. Although the change required a number of adjustments on my part, I am happy now that I have more work-life balance and time for more important things.
Along with the work shift I started pioneering last September. It has been four months already and I am happy on how I was able to pull it off with the help of God and my family. I was able to meet new friends, help them and learn from them too. Pioneering teaches me to have more self-discipline and to manage my time wisely. There is still a lot of room for improvement so I hope I can manage to do them this year.
2008 has been a year of financial and food crisis. Our family had our share of belt-tightening on expenses and even making ends meet to fund business debts. However, with God’s help we are able to surpass them, although we don’t know yet if the crisis will still last for another year. Several tragedies also happened – the China quake and the capsizing of MV Princess of the Stars. I hope survivors and their loved ones have recovered from their losses.
Weddings of friends and acquaintances have been plenty last year. However, I was able to attend only 2 – Lance and Jown’s wedding. I hope this year they will continue to find joy and contentment on their married life.
Ate has been promoted last April to manager of a business unit in our company. Younger sister has graduated from her course last October and come April we will see her march with other graduates in UP. Congratulations to both of you.
On a lighter side, I had my fair share of vacation and leisure this year. I was able to diligently follow three TV shows – American Idol, Kim Sam Soon and Survivor Philippines. I have also watched some CKJ dramas thanks to Carla, Noreen and Liza. The Eheads reunion concert was also fun, thanks to Choi and Micheru. Kuya lend me his guitar which up until now I cannot strum perfectly. I was in Ilocos twice last year – last May on Papa and Mama’s wedding anniversary and last December with my sisters, brother-in-law and cute nephew. The OceanPark visit and Davao trip are also memorable because our family was complete and we had fun.
Another year has ended and a new one starts. For me, 2009 offers a new hope and a new opportunity to do exciting things. I hope the same goes for you. Let’s do our best to have a happy and meaningful year.
